Democrats were sitting pretty in these two races (esp. if Young hangs on in the primary) until McCain picked Gov. Palin.
My short take:
Stevens is done unless he is acquitted. The outcome of the trial may be important. I just don’t think there are many coattails in this race. The House race may be a different story as Palin could pull Young through.
Any thoughts?
In order to keep the image as a reformer, she may have to throw Young (and Stevens) under the bus. Now, if Parnell wins the primary recount, that’s a different story.
If Young and Stevens remain the nominees come November both seats are likely pickups.
Either Palin keeps her image as a reformer and helps the Republicans with the presidential race while throwing Young under the bus, or she helps Young and erases her image as a reformer and gives the national and Alaska Democratic Parties something else to work with.
Hell no, she’s not gonna help Young. Okay, fundraiser, at the most. Not a campaign appearance.
